Basel Claim Third Consecutive Swiss Title!

FC Basel secure their third consecutive title
FC Basel are the Swiss Champions after second place side FC Luzern only drew against Grasshoppers FC yesterday. With the three points today, FC Basel have accumulated enough points at the top of the table to be declared the Champions of Switzerland before the end of the season.

After a dominant performance on their home pitch in St. Jakob-Park in front of their loving fans, FC Basel were able to celebrate their 15th title and their third title in three straight seasons. Their first goal came from Marco Streller in the 8th minute after a fantastic piece of team play from Xhaka and Alex Frei and their second didn't come until the 63rd, but Basel were able to produce the three points they needed to secure the Championship title.

FC Lausanne were able to equalize in the 19th minute with a fantastic header from Junior Negrao but in the second half, Alex Frei and Jacques Zoua added to the scoreline to secure the win for the home side.The celebrations had began on the Basel bench before the stoppage time was even announced.

With their third straight title in the bag, Basel can now focus on preparing for the Swiss Cup final against FC Luzern and to try and secure the Swiss double.
